KEN SPEED
FULL-TIME FACULTY, BCEA GRIEVANCE OFFICER AND NEGOTIATOR. During his time at Butte College, Ken Speed has made major contributions on behalf of full-time faculty. He is retiring this semester and will be dearly missed. Ken has been at Butte College since May 1985 and has been faculty since July 1986. He began handling full-time faculty grievances in July 2004 and has been on the BCEA negotiation team since 2008. Ken’s communication skills, people skills and personality have been a large part of his success in representing full-time faculty. He is known for his dedication and his amazingly talented way with words, whether in writing or conversation. He has built positive campus-wide relationships throughout his career and is diplomatic, fair, and honest in his communication. Ken is selfless when it comes to being an advocate for faculty rights. There are many who owe a large part of their peace of mind and job satisfaction to Ken’s concerted efforts. He has put in time well beyond what is required and has done so graciously and with a passion to help others. We will miss him greatly and wish him a wonderful, relaxing retirement! DT |
